Menaggio and Cadenabbia Golf Club. (Grandola ed Uniti) 18 hole, par 70,Tel: 0344/3210
The "Menaggio e Cadenabbia" Golf Club is one of the oldest clubs in Lombardy situated in the foothills of the Alps, just outside Menaggio. The course has a British atmosphere which might derive from the British establishing this club. The club only became Italian in the fifties. The fairways are fairly narrow and challenging. The golf course has magnificent views and a wonderful clubhouse with sumptuous food and a wonderful ambience.

Appiano Gentile, 18 hole golf course, par 70, Tel: 031/933202
The course is situated in the green woods of the Parco Pinetina of Appiano Gentile and Tradate. It covers 158 acres of beautiful parkland in wonderfully un spoilt countryside. The 18 holes meander through a dense forest of Pine, Silver Birch, Oak and Chestnut so accuracy is a must. Excellent year round condition and a warm friendly welcoming atmosphere ensure you`ll enjoy your stay.

The Carimate Golf Club is 15km from Como and is situated on the estate surrounding a large medieval castle which still stands today. Founded in 1960, the course was designed by Piero Mancinelli. It's fairways wind their way through huge rhododendron bushes alternated with age-old majestic oaks flanking the course.

Lanzo Intelvi, 9 hole golf course, par 68, Tel: 031/839060
Lanzo Golf Club was founded in 1962 by the architect Donald Harradine. The course is set an altitude of 1000 meters and the course winds through the woods and glades views of the valley and the surrounding mountains.

Cassina Rizzardi, 36 hole golf course, par 72, Tel: 031/928055
The Monticello Golf Club was founded in 1974 on an area of about 140 hectares through by the brothers Alessandro and Giuseppe Panza. This area has two 18-hole golf courses. This development was a model of originality for Italy in those years. With a modern Club House, two restaurants with adjoining terraces,excellent Italian food, pools and 6 tennis courts this course has it all.....

Montorfano, 18 hole golf course, par 69, Tel: 031/200200
The history of the Golf Club Villa d'Este dates back to 1926, when the British architect Peter Gannon designed the course. The course is laid out in a wonderful arrangement with a view of the small lake Motorfano. Villa d'Este offers a beautifully shaded woodland course which can be regarded as one of the most challenging and most difficult courses in Italy. Although it is a rather short course accuracy is required. The close-cropped grass of the fairways which are running through old tree stock and some of which are quite narrow will cause some more difficulties, not to forget the many bunkers. The history of the Club's activities is a prestigious one. Villa d'Este was very often the venue of the ITALIAN OPEN and the Italian International Championships.The clubhouse called "Casino of the Monte Organo Golf Course", designed by Guiseppe Bergomi, has become the "symbol" of the Villa d'Este Golf Club.

Lake Como is an ideal spot to try these various courses. All are within easy driving range or in the case of the Menaggio and Cadenabbia course, only a taxi ride up the hill from the Piazza in Menaggio. What could better after a round of golf than a glass of Lombardy wine on the lakeside and a plate of fresh pasta!!
