Located in this peaceful and beautiful enclave of Tremezzo, just 5 minutes walk from the lakefront and in a lush and beautiful hillside setting, this elegant holiday home is ideal for groups and families who wish to explore all the wonders of Lake Como.
The pretty period villa dates back to 1650 and was built by the ‘De Carli’ merchant family who had ties with the Dutch East India Company and who built their wealth from commerce and ships. This fascinating history provides modern day guests with an extremely interesting and spacious apartment for their self-catering stay, with high ceilings, period features and well-proportioned rooms throughout.
From the roadside a pretty pink archway entrance leads guests along a path lined with tulips and herbaceous shrubs to the sunny garden and to the principal entrance to the property.
From the garden entrance guests can relax in the bright ground floor living space which comprises a comfortable sitting area with an original marble fireplace with an archway leading to a formal dining room. The dining area is elegantly furnished with a Murano glass chandelier and fine antique pieces.
A spacious luxury kitchen with high ceilings and original charm provides a splendid family-friendly room to prepare home-cooked meals and socialise in, with a large breakfast table for upto 6 guests. The fully-fitted kitchen is made from solid wood and features a modern stainless steel double gas hob and oven, a free standing refrigerator, kettle, microwave, dishwasher and all the other desired cooking utensils and crockery. An original fireplace surround also provides a fabulous feature to the room.
Outside the sunny garden features a pagoda covered terrace ideal for fabulous alfresco dinner parties!
The ground floor also provides guests with a laundry room with washing machine for guest’s convenience.
A chandelier-lit stairwell leads guests to the first and second floor of the luxury apartment which comprises in total 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a second living room.
The first floor living room has been furnished to a comfortable contemporary style with an L-shaped leather sofa and an ornamental wood burning stove and a wall mounted flat screen SAT TV & DVD Player for guests’ entertainment. WIFI access can also be provided in the property.
All of the villa’s sleeping accommodation is bright, spacious and beautifully furnished. To the first floor the pretty and spacious master bedroom features a double bed with decorative curtains in a classical style and romantic French-style décor with lacquered furniture, in elegant finishes. A dressing area with wardrobe is also situated in the suite and from the bedroom guests can enjoy use of the sunny lake view balcony which overlooks the tranquil garden, idyllic hillside and towards the lake.
A beautiful and inviting second lake view bedroom provides a set of antique mahogany twin single beds and access through pretty French doors to the sunny shared balcony. Two modern bathrooms are provided for guests’ convenience and stairs lead to the charming third floor which boasts a chalet-style ambience, with its sloping beamed ceiling and generously proportioned rooms. The third floor features an additional sitting room and a third double bedroom with a TV and DVD player. A third modern bathroom is also conveniently situated.
Outside in the sunny Italianate style garden guests can relax with a good book on the sun loungers. The garden also provides the ideal spot for alfresco dining, with the classical fountain and the pleasing peachy tone villa facade with climbing wisteria providing an idyllic backdrop to evening aperitifs and meals.
Just a short drive from this peaceful residential part of Tremezzo guests will find the bustling lakefront town centre with its wide choice of cafes serving coffee and ice cream and its welcoming bars and restaurants. The ‘Cantina Follie’ wine bar for evening wine tasting and the ‘Aqua Cheta’ boathouse bar for evening aperitifs are both highly recommended. The town also provides guests with a choice of grocery shops, a hair salon, paper shop, designer boutique shop and a frequent bus and passenger ferry service to Como city. The central lake location makes the famous visitor attractions of Menaggio, Varenna, Bellagio and Villa Balbianello within easy reach from the town and a scenic lakefront pavement leads along the Tremezzina shore to the famous visitor attraction of Villa Carlotta which is just 10 minutes away.
Central lake activities include swimming at the Lido di Menaggio, cycling, hiking to San Martino, Tennis at the Loveno Tennis club, a round of Golf at the world famous Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Club, visiting the Villas and botanical gardens, hiring a boat for the day to explore the lake and also enjoying a wide range of water sports to the north of Menaggio.

Our one & two weekly service charges are inclusive of final cleaning, bed linen, towels, heating, utilities & air-conditioning (if installed in the holiday property). Tea towels & beach towels are not supplied. If your booking is for more than one week, clean linen & towels will be provided on a weekly basis.
