We thought the property was an ideal holiday home and suited us very well indeed. It was just the right size for us to relax in, we loved the terrace and the view very much indeed. I am attaching a photo of the terrace from the lounge as an illustration of the view – couldn’t be beaten in our opinion.
The location was within easy walking distance downhill to the town of Menaggio, and the landing stage for the ferries was to hand at the end of the path. We found it very relaxing to leave the car parked in the secure garage and use the ferries (traghetto) to get around the lake every day. There was a nice little mini market at the bottom of the hill, on the corner of the road that led to the landing stage, and we found that was ideal for our day to day groceries such as milk etc. (although of course closed on Sunday and Monday!).
Our opinion of your office team is that they really couldn’t have been more helpful, I found that email was replied to almost straightaway, and they were always available should we have any queries. As previous visitors to Italy over many years, our opinion is that your agency is one of the best we have been in contact with, both for their availability and for local presence which is always reassuring.
We visited Villa Melzi at Bellagio, Villa Carlotta at Tremezzo, and Villa Balbianello at Lenno. I think the favourite was Villa Balbianello, mainly because we took the guided tour, which was very interesting and gave us all the history and background of the villa. Clients might be interested to hear that on production of your English National Trust card you can get a discount on entrance fees at Villa Balbianello.
Restaurants; we went to various places and ate out every day, but I would say a memorable one was La Pergola which is at Pescallo, on the other side of the headland to Bellagio. It is a lovely shady terrace looking out over the little harbour;’ we followed the signs from the top of town in Bellagio and it was about a 15 minute walk – on a hot day it was like reaching an oasis in the desert to get to the restaurant, and we enjoyed some very nice grilled lake fish with vegetables as our main dish.
I am attaching a photo of the view of the terrace at Bellavista from the lounge. I also attach one of the restaurant La Pergola.
I hope this will be helpful to you and future customers, and would certainly recommend your company to friends and family.
All the best
Firstly, I have to compliment you on the professionalism of your company. Your customer service from the moment I contacted you was very impressive. You certainly leave nothing to chance! Other holiday rentals companies could learn a lot from you!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bellavista Giardino. The apartment itself is really lovely. What I liked most was that it was more like staying at a friend's house than a holiday apartment. It has lots of character and the kitchen was incredibly well equipped for entertaining at home. The views are spectacular from the terrace and we spent a lot of time there, especially in the evenings/at night.
The apartment complex is lovely and immaculately kept. The pool is also gorgeous. We didn't use it ourselves, preferring to stay on our own, but we certainly would have, had the temperatures soared any higher! While we didn't have a car if we did the garage would have also been very welcome.
We didn't do much sightseeing as it was rest and relaxation holiday but we took a boat down the lake which is a wonderful relaxing way to see everything.
We enjoyed most of the restaurants we visited especially Ristorante Pizzeria Vecchia (amazing pizza) and Red Bay (views, food, everything).
Despite the appalling weather whilst we were there, we had a great holiday (it was actually our honeymoon). We both thought that that apartment was lovely. The presence of books, cookbooks, DVDs etc. was much appreciated - and the umbrella was well used to! It felt both elegant and a home from home at the same time.
We both hope to come back to Menaggio again, and will consider renting Bellavista again we liked it so much. We just hope that the weather will be kinder to us.
