We enjoyed our stay in the apartment. It is spacious, comfortable and the great, panoramic view from the front window over the lake (and down onto the bars!) changes with the light and the weather. The location in the centre of Porlezza is perfect and the town is not overrun by the numbers of tourists found in the resorts on Lake Como. There are many comfortable bars and cafes, though we did not find a good restaurant. We found the bus transport to Lake Como to be frequent and easy to use. Swimming in lake is good and the water is much warmer than in Scotland!
On behalf of me and my family, I would like to thank you for wonderful hosting and treatment. The property was in very good condition and perfectly served our needs and expectations. It was in very good location which provides us with a very good starting position to the most beautiful places and events in north Italy and Switzerland. There were very nice shops, bars and ice cream all around, and the beautiful lake of Lugano, that was glance from every window of the property, could not be ignored and entered deep in to our heaerts.
Apartment was lovely - not a box type Apartment, but clearly someones Home. Only drawback - it could not be described as peaceful. Road was a bit noisy, and as Windows had to be left open because of the Heat, there was the sound from the Restaurants.
Best place to eat in Porlezza was Pizza Porlezza - dirt cheap and really good Pizza's!
Never had to use your Office - instructions to the Apartment were easily understood.
We enjoyed our time at La Piazza Porlezza very much. The flat was ideal for a family of five, very roomy nicely furnished and with all the needed appliances. The views from all the windows were breath taking. The children's' room was a real gem with the warm furniture and the toys the owner left in the room which our children enjoyed a lot.
The apartment is also ideally suited for any one who plans to travel in the region from lake Como to Lago Magore. The town of Porlezza is very nice. Just beside the apartment building is the best gelateria we found in the whole region. We shopped for groceries in the small shops in the romantic alleys just by the flat. The only set back was that the apartment is located right on the Lake Lugano lake and which is a little noisy.
We ate most of our meals at the apartment with its comfortable kitchen and dining table so we don't have many recommendations for restaurants. As for places we visited
We visited many places the whole region is beautiful and as we visited a little before high season there were no crowds or bad traffic. We loved La Isola Bella at lago magore. We took the cable car to the Top of mount Motorone and hiked the two hour trail back down through the woods (not for people with knee problems).
Of the lake Como towns we liked Menagio best. Its beautiful and quiet. We mini-golfed, we walked the streets and took the boat around the lake to Belagio and to Villa Carlota (both recommended). Buying the daily ticket for the ferry is very economic and you can travel back and forth without going the long way around with your car (also the kids love it).
Also recommended are the verscaza valley, we stopped at the damn and actually got to see two people bungee jump.
We also drove to Ascona across the boarder, to Lugano and took the train through the Chentovally.
Greatly recommended is the drive to Morcote through the botanical gardens at Corona.
Tips for people not from Europe - North Italy and Switserland are very expensive. You can save a lot of money by buying groceries and cooking instead of eating at restaurants. Also, always by mineral watter at the market its a lot cheaper than any restaurant.
I apologize for misspelling the names of places (feel free to correct) and other spelling mistakes.
I hope we were helpful, We had a great time.
